Orthopedic Institute, an independent physician group specializing in orthopedics, was founded in 1972 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The group has steadily grown in size and scope, today with 17 physicians and over 150 employees. An important milestone in OI's growth was the new building, completed in 2001.
Today, Orthopedic Institute is the largest orthopedic specialty group in the region. In addition to general orthopedics, areas of focus include the Spine Center, Sports Medicine Center and the Upper Extremity Center. The group also specializes in joint replacement, foot and ankle and pediatrics, and offers physical medicine and rheumatology expertise.
Clinics are located in Brookings, Mitchell and Yankton, in addition to Sioux Falls. Outreach is provided to Dell Rapids, Flandreau, Freeman, Madison, and Vermillion, SD; Marshall, MN; and Rock Rapids, Rock Valley and Sibley, IA.
